Being a orthopedic consultant and your question in bone and muscle category I want to suggest that in such case we used to advise rest to patient. In such cases nerveanalgesic like Pregabalin are very helpful. A combination of medical therapy, rest and physiotherapy give excellent resulots in such cases.
Beware of red flag signs in such cases like loss of power, sensation, bladder and bowel weakness, they need an urgent surgical intervention. If you want to learn exercises for back in such cases.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Mukesh Tiwari, Orthopedic Surgeon
