i have a question to doctor that my father did his coronary artery bypass heart surgery after 8th month of surgery now he is feeling pain on his legs upper of knee .he also has cholesterol 6 point and also high blood pressure patient taking tablets of BP and cholesterol. He is also doing daily exercise like walking,He is not in canada He cant afford to come for treatment so could you please suggest me or give an idea that is it danger or not?why he is feeling pain in his one leg ?Im waiting for answer hope you will help me ....from her daughter.
If he is having pain in the leg, it can be muscular but any vascular lesion or blockage should be ruled out with history of raised cholesterol and tendency to form blood clots like ischemic heart disease. If it's in the same leg where the graft was taken, patency of collateral circulation needs to be confirmed by lower leg Doppler. Meanwhile OTC analgesics like acetaminophen or Ibuprofen can be used. Uric acid levels as well as sugar levels should be done.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Wishing you a speedy recovery.
Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
