Suggest Remedies For Painful Bruise On Right Foot Post An Injury

Earlier today I fell and bruised the right side of my right foot. I can move my toes but it is painful. I do not think any bones are broken but want to know if it is best to keep moving or to rest the foot. It seems to stiffen when I sit for awhile. Thanks

Hello,

* Possible ligament sprain or strain likely from injury over the foot. Primary guidelines for better recovery.

- local application of ice over the bruised area 3 times a day 5 minutes each time.
- analgesic medicines as diclofenac or ibuprofen to be taken after meals if there is no history of drug sensitivity.
- keep the leg elevated over 2-3 pillows support to avoid dependent edema development.

* Follow up recommended after a period of 3 days or early as per your requirement about the progress and future course of action.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
