Suggest Remedies For Painful Right Ear That Does Not Subside Despite Medication

Right ear pian, sharp, throbbing pain on right side of head above & in front of same ear. Jaw is misaligned, hurts to chew, pain wakes me up. Went to ER Monday night, Doctor placed wick in ear, gave me drops & Vicodin. Took wick out after 48 hours this evening. Still not doing any better. Pain is unbearable unless I take Aleve or Advil with a half dose of Vicodin. Was nauseous & had diarrhea today. What else can I do?

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern.

As per your complain it seems that pain in right ear and also misaligned jaw with pain increasing on chewing can be due to the disturbances in the functioning of jaw joint known as Temporomandibular joint leading to TMJ/TMD.
It doesn't look like ear infection or looks more like TMJ..

Nausea and vomiting can be a side effect of medication and you can take Ondensarton for nausea and Loperamide for diarrhoea and plenty of Probiotics like Yogurt..

I would suggest you to consult an Oral Physician and get a thorough evaluation and a full mouth x-ray
known as Orthopantomogram done..

As of now you can take anti-inflammatory painkiller Ibuprofen, muscle relaxant like Chlorzoxasone and
do warm compresses over the jaw.
Take a soft diet and avoid excessive mouth opening..
The physician can evaluate you clinically and along with painkillers and muscle relaxants he can also
advise you mouth guards and physiotherapy..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
