Hello, I just got new retainers. My lower retainers are so painful when I first got them a couple of days ago. Now its so unbearable i cant put them on right now. I looked into my mouth and found blister like sores on both sides of my mouth. Is this normal??

Hi..
Thanks for the query .

It looks like there are some sharp areas over the retainers that are causing irritation of the mucosa and tearing the mucosa causing ulceration..

You should consult your Dentist and get evaluated so that he can smoothen the sharp areas and you should wear them once the ulcers start healing..

You can apply numbing gel like Lignocaine and take anti inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen..
You should also rinse your mouth with cold water so that the inflammation and heat gets reduced..

Hope this helps..

Regards.
