General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Pemphigus is characterised by fluid filled blisters over the trunk, scalp and other area which easily rupture to leave behind painful erosions/raw areas. Oral mucosal involvement is charcteristic in pemphigus. Pemphigus is mostly diagnosed clinically. The clinical diagnosis can be confirmed by skin biopsy.

Treatment is with oral steroids + immunosuppressives like Azathioprine, cyclophosphamide etc. Itch is not a prominent symptom in pemphigus, rather the lesions are painful.

I would like to have more details from you regarding the treatment he is on, skin biopsy finding if it was performed.

Hope my answer was helpful. If you have further queries feel free to contact me again.

Wish you all the best.

Regards,
Dr. Ivan R. Rommstein, General Surgeon
