Suggest Remedies For Persistent Diarrhea With A Growing Lump Around The Anus

I have been experiencing diarrhea for over 14 days and started to have pain near my tailbone weds night. It did not improve and I noticed a lump just outside my anus so I went to the doctor in an urgent clinic (no appointments available) and saw someone who all they did was give me the name of a GI specialist who I am seeing Weds. Since last night the bump has almost tripled in size and the pain is very severe. If I go to the ER will they be able to prescribe a topical treatment that will ease the pain? or lance it or something. At this point all over the counter hemorhoid treatments are not effetive and I am taking 2 ibiprofin every 6 hours and am still in constant pain.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It could be a haemorrhoid or anal fissure. Consult a gastroenterologist and plan for a colonoscopy to make a diagnosis.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
