Hello. I ve had a fever of about 102 for three days now. 2 dayquil every 6 hours (650 mg acetomiaphin) makes life tolerable, the fever comes down to about 100, but I ve never before had such a high fever for so long. I occasionally cough, a dry cough. I tasted phlegm once. My nose doesn t run. It s just a high fever, for 3 days. What should I do?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

As per your history, it may be due to upper respiratory tract infection.

For fever take tablet acetaminophen. In case of high fever, do cold sponging.

Along with that, you may require antibiotics, chest X-ray, complete hemogram after consultation.

Fever will get subside as the infection clears. Keep your self hydrated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shyam B. Kale, General & Family Physician
