Suggest Remedies For Persistent Itching Around The Mouth, Face, Scalp And Neck
The past month or two I have had a lot of itching around my mouth, face and my scalp and neck. This reaction was severe when I ate mango, but I stopped eating that and now it seems like it happens all the time regardless of what I eat. I ve gotten a rash on my neck that feels dry and its red and noticeable. The only medications I take are Zoloft and birth control, but ive taken these for a long time. A doctor I saw a few weeks ago gave me a steroid called prednisone and said it was some kind of fungus. That steroid did seem to help but it still doesn t tell me what I could be allergic to. Any help is much appreciated!
I can understand your concern. It is possible that you are allergic to some substance in the food or air that you come in contact with routinely but you are not aware of it causing allergic reaction to you.
After completing the steroid medication course, wait for a week and go for a blood test for allergy. This test will analyze what substance you are allergic to so that you avoid the exposure to it in future. If the exposure is unavoidable, you may have to take antihistamine regularly for a long time to keep the allergic reaction in control.
As your doctor suggested, this is a fungal infection and not an allergic reaction. In that case, you will have to take antifungal medication such as Fluconazole 150 mg (Fole) once a day for 7-10 days. If the allergic reaction does not come under control and allergy test does not show any significant finding, you should give a chance to antifungal medication.
I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. I wish you feel better soon.
