Suggest Remedies For Persistent Pain On The Left Side Of Lower Back

Hi, I ve been having pain in my lower back on the left side for 2 weeks. It started as a twinge that I thought was due to a sudden movement when I was out on a boat. But, it has not gone away and hurts more in some sitting or lying positions than in others.

Hello,
Thank you for asking at HCM.
Your pain is a typical muscular back pain that gets worse with movement and positions. According to muscular fibers hurt and if you continue to hurt the back, the low back pain may go up to 6 weeks. what I would recommend you is:
1- good dose ibuprofen (if no stomach problems and not allergic to it)regularly 3-4 times a day after food
2- do not do extra exercises or sports during this time you are in pain
3- bed rest is not recommended either, try to have your daily activities as usual
4- try local compresses, some people get better with warm compresses some with cold compressor; you can test which is better for you.
5- physiotherapy helps a lot with back pain
6- if no improvement in 2-3 weeks or earlier if any worse, you will need to see a doctor.

Hope this is helpful and answers to your question

Best regards,

Dr Antoneta
