Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Since late april I started having itching in the vaginal/outer area. Being a diabetic and also taking around 4 rounds of antibiotic I thought that I may be a yeast infection. I have 2 treatment of OTC yeast infection treatment which, has not brought any relief. I am now having pain, itching and bleeding of the outer area not from coming for the vaginal area.
Considering these symptoms it may be caused by STD if there was recent intercourse. Other causes include is decreased levels of estrogen.
If premarin is not helping then it can be related to decreased levels of Vitamin B12 or a mild nerve root compression at the level of sacral spine. Keeping the area moisturized with peanut butter will also help.
You can also start taking methylcobalaminsupplements and see if it helps. Please feel free to discuss further.
If there is no improvement, get swab test and it is fungus, take vaginal pessary and oral intake of Flucanazole. Keep the area dry and clean. Avoid excessive use of soap.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Iven Romic Rommstein, General Surgeon
