General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Rash can be due to viral , bacterial or fungal infections or related to an allergic reaction to a particular agent.

A cream for allergic skin rash would not be effective with a rash due to an infection.

It is possible since it is so painful that it is related to shingles if you have a previous history of chicken pox in the past but it would be difficult to say without seeing the rash.
Skin disorders are visual and require examination of the affected area.

It would be best to see your doctor so the affected area can be thoroughly examined and you can be effectively treated.

I hope this helps
