Suggest Remedies For Recurrent Skin Rash On The Leg
Yes, I had a severe case of poison ivy earlier this summer and had to get a steroid injection to finally get it to clear up. Now it seems I am getting another case of this starting on my leg, should I just go in and get another injection of steroids or try to treat it topically.
Exposure to poison ivy usually causes contact dermatitis which presents as a rash in the area exposed. And recurrent exposure will usually cause the frequent appearance of rashes.
Depending on the severity of the rash, one may use topical steroids for milder disease and steroid injections for more severe rashes.
But on top of this, it is of paramount importance to stop exposure in order to prevent recurrence of the rashes.
I recommend a consult with a dermatologist for further investigation, and treatment depending on the severity of the rash.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Daryl Derick B. Dizon, General & Family Physician
