Suggest Remedies For Running Nose Despite Taking Augmentin

My brother has had kidney transplant five years ago. Suddenly he has throat infection for the past one week and he is on antibiotics of augmenting 1 g but still his white blood cells are 16 and has a continuous running nose with white mucus. His neurophils and lymphocytes are high. His basophils are normal. So can we higher dose of antibiotics

Given the elevated white count, augmentin is appropriate as this is likely a bacterial infection. Can take up to 1 gram of augmentin twice a day. No need for higher antibiotic dose, as will cause stomach pain and diarrhea. For mucus may use mucinex ( guaifenesin) which comes in liquid and pill form which will help to expectorate the mucus. Also helps to drink plenty of fluids, and remember to take augmentin after a meal.
