Suggest Remedies For Severe Back Pain In An Elderly Person
My boyfriend, age 61 is experiencing severe pain in his right back where the kidneys are located. The pain comes and goes in waves and it s excruciating. He had an episode early this morning and has been fine all day until about an hour ago when the pain returned.Since we are In Mississippi and he lives in Louisiana, he is hesitant to go to an emergency room here. We are wondering at which point we should head there anyway. He is feeling nauseated but has had no pain urinating, no blood in his urine no diarrhea.
Severe back pain with nausea in elderly can be related to: - Spasm from ureter or renal calculus - Dehydration induced gravels in the urinary system - Muscle spasm with gastritis component - Others
Give primary relief with: - Proton pump inhibitor as omeprazole on empty stomach - Analgesic as paracetamol after meals - Avoid sudden bending, weight lifting or strenuous exercises - Local application of heating pad and analgesic spray with diclofenac with or without menthol
