Suggest Remedies For Severe Knee Pain Post An Injury

I had a fall last Friday. X ray shows my knee is not broken. Still unable to weight bare despite trying on many occasions, I have just ended up face planting as my knee has given way. I have been referred to fracture clinic, is there any chance they will cast my knee regardless as I have a little one I need it stabilised and protected as she keeps knocking into it accidentally and it s so so painful

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

It could be due to conditions like ligament injury or contusion.

As first-line management, you can take analgesics like paracetamol or aceclofenac for pain relief.

If symptoms persist better to consult an orthopedic and plan for an MRI scan.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
