Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My mother had lung surgery 34 years ago. The upper lobe of her left lung was cancerous and was removed. Since then she has had shortness of breath which sometimes is worst than other times. She was given a prescription for a Proair inhaler. My question is how often can she use it on days when she had wheezing and shortness of breathe?
She has to take it according to doctors prescription. Usually, it is given thrice a day. Visit your pulmonologist. She may need some tests like 2D echo, PFT, CT chest etc. because chronic pulmonary insufficiency causes back pressure and increases pulmonary artery pressure which compromises heart functions too, adding to respiratory distress.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. AJEET SINGH, General & Family Physician
