My son-in-law takes lithium. It makes him nauseated and he frequently vomits his lithium dose. Needless to say, it s hard to maintain an adequate level and he starts to experience symptoms. Is there something he can take with the lithium to prevent the nausea and vomiting? He takes the drug with food as prescribed.
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Lithium is used to treat the manic episodes of bipolar disorder. Intake of Lithium can cause nausea, diarrhea, dizziness, muscle weakness, fatigue and dazed feeling as side effects. These unwanted side effects often improve with continued use. If such side effects continues and becomes bothersome, you need to seek medical attention promptly to resolve the same. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
