Suggest Remedies For Sore Throat, Difficulty In Swallowing And White Patches On Tongue

I have a sore throat can hardly swallow. Sores under the tongue and some on the cheek area. White on the back of the tongue. Also, some off white coloring in the roof of my mouth. Sores are very painful. Two weeks ago the doctor took me off Nortriptalele thinking that was causing the problem but it is worse now. Please advise me what you think it is and a remedy that will help. Wanda Campbell

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that you are suffering from Throat infection and the symptoms of throat pain that is Pharyngitis along with ulcers over the tongue and cheek seems to be due to Apthous stomatitis causing canker sores secondary to throat infection..
Along with it white stuff at the back of tongue can be due to overgrowth of yeast in that area causing Oral Thrush.

For confirmation consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like Thorat swab culture and microscopy of the white coating from the tongue can help in diagnosis..

-Antibiotics like Augmentin OR Azithromycin to resolve the infection..
-Anti-inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen can be taken to relive pain. -----Doing warm saline gargles, steam inhalation and using a humidifier in your room can be very much relieving.
-You can also suck throat lozenges to soothe the throat..
-Gargle with numbing mouthwash containing Lignocaine..
-Gargle with antiseptic solution like few drops of betadine in water..
-Chew Vitamin C pellets to boost up the immunity..
-Avoid spicy and chilled foods..
If there is associated yeast infection then antifungal mouthwash like Nystatin and Clotrimazole lozenges will be advised..

Hope this helps..
Regards.
