Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
In the past two days I have developed a sore throat. My discharge has always been clear. Started yesterday I could see slight color. Today my discharge is a little bit darker. I feel bad like a have a cold. I just looked at my tongue after using the toilet. My tongue has a thin layer of plaque over it.
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of sore throat with phlegm which is due to upper respiratory tract infection and discharge is darker as sometimes its blood tinged.
Need not to worry as it use to happen in most of the cases. I would suggest you to consult a Pulmonologist and get evaluated and go for blood tests, and chest x ray to find out exact diagnosis and start treatment.
You should do warm saline gargles.
- Avoid spicy food and cold beverages.
- Use mist humidifiers in room.
- Take antibiotics such as Levofloxacin along with antiinflammatory medications.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
