Hi.
Noted the history of dog-bites, tetanus prophylaxis, tender thigh area and so on.
Sudden development of tenderness in the area of dog-bites after 4 to weeks is a cause of concern as you have to get checked for the following:
Cellulitis.
Abscess formation.
Muscle necrosis and so on.
I would advise you the following in such a situation.
Why was not the anti-
rabies vaccine given, be sure about it and insist as per the prevailing practices in your area after dog-bit.
Clinical examination, preferably by a
General Surgeon.
Relevant investigations of blood to see for diabetes, infection.
Ultrasonography of the affected area or MRI to see for the internal infection and condition of the soft tissues.
If there is any collection then go for
incision and drainage.
Further management as per the cause found should help you the most.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
