I have a throat infection with pain. Have started omxallin 500 mg TDS. Thick sticky saliva nearly chocked me where the mucous was neither moving up or down. Movement into respiratory track moved have certainaly chocked me to death as I had severe breathing problem. Should go to an emergency.
Hi Thanks for posting on HCM The symptom you describe points to an upper respiratory infection. Most of these infections may manifest with thick mucous/respiratory difficulties. Most of these infections are of viral origin and will need only symptomatic management.Bacteria infections or super infection are also possible and will need antibiotics like amoxicillin.I will suggest you try the following: -Continue with amox since stopping it may cause resistance if of bacteria origin -Take a mucolytic like carbocysteine -A Bronchodilator like salbutus syrup -Drink enough water -Avoid cold, dust and smoke -Humidify room air -Frequent nassal blowing or cleaning You may see the Doctor if these measures do not help you Best wishes
