Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
work with my hands doing carpentry. Recently have extremely dry skin appearing on top and bottoms of hands and turning cuticles yellow. Also on my knees. Does not itch. Have been using Gold Bond lotion regularly but no improvement. Looks terrible. What can I do to make it go away.
As per your query you have symptoms of very dry skin which seem to be due to constant exposure to allergen leading to contact dermatitis.
Need not to worry. I would suggest you to start applying a steroid ointment like cortisone over the rash area for relieving inflammation and itching. Application of calamine lotion will be effective to soothe the skin. Apply cold compresses. You should maintain proper cleanliness and avoid scratching to prevent infection. If symptoms still keep on persisting you should visit a dermatologist once and get it examined.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari, Dentist
