Hi,I am Dr. Radhakrishna (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been having left side upper quad. abdominal pain 7/10. The pain does not radiate just remains in one spot for two days. My gallbladder was removed 2007. I am 67 years old female with hx. htn, and enlarged heart. Work 32-40 hrs with no edema, meds as prescribed.
Hi ! Good evening. I am Dr Shareef answering your query.
If I were your doctor, after a clinical assessment of your abdomen, I would advise you for a CBC, liver function test, a serum amylase and lipase to rule out a pancreatitis, and an ultrasound of abdomen to know the status of the common bile duct. With a history of hypertension and enlarged heart, I would also advise you to get yourself reviewed by your cardiologist. Till then, I would advise you for an anti spasmodic along with a proton pump inhibitor drug for a symptomatic relief.
I hope this information would help you in discussing with your family physician/treating doctor in further management of your problem. Please do not hesitate to ask in case of any further doubts.
Thanks for choosing health care magic to clear doubts on your health problems. I wish you an early recovery. Dr Shareef.
