Hello. Thanks for writing to us at healthcaremagic
Protected sex is generally considered to be safe particularly with regard to HIV and STD's like syphilis, gonorrhea, chlamydia. However genital herpes, genital warts, and genital herpes can still be transmitted because a condom does'nt always completely cover the infected skin and these STD's can be acquired by genital rubbing during sexual act. Therefore, if you ever notice genital growths or erosions or ulcers, you must immediately see a skin specialist. Kissing is not a risk factor for STD's Even though it was a protected sexual encounter and therefore chances of HIV are negligible. I would still suggest that for your own peace of mind you should get yourself tested for STD's including HIV at appropriate intervals. Testing for Herpes simplex virus (HSV) can be earliest at 2 weeks; HIV and VDRL at 1 month initially and then repeat tested at 3 months.
