Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My blood pressure has always been normal until yesterday when I went for a routine check up. Doc told me to keep a check on it over the weekend. I just checked it and it is 185/120 pulse rate 115. I am 34 years old. 5' 3" 145lbs. How concerned should I be? Blood work should be back Monday. Do I need to do anything before then?
Thanks for contacting HCM. Dear patient, as your doctor instead of prescribing medicine suggested to keep a watch on your blood pressure, probably you had borderline high blood pressure. Most probably you are using an electronic bp measuring instrument which are usually inaccurate,so it could be a false high reading, but still it should not be ignored because if it is a correct reading then it is very high and you need to go to emergency and get your blood pressure checked out with a mercury sphygmomanometer and if it is actually so high get admitted and treated for it. Regards
