will someone please reply to my email? I really need to talk to someone about my problem with picking at my face and skin when I get nervous anxious or my anxiety act up. It's very important to me that I hear back from someone that knows a few words of advice or ways to help me. anything helps, I have a psychiatrist but not a therapist so no one to talk to about this unless you think my psychiatrist would be able to prescribe me something but honestly I'd like to kick this have on my own
Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries
I can understand your concern. The problem of picking at face or skin in anxious situations occurs in a lot of individuals with anxiety disorder. Compulsive skin picking or some times hair pulling is seen. In most individuals improvement of anxiety results in improvement in such behaviours. Behaviour therapy with relaxation exercises has good roles in treatment. Please visit a psychiatrist for help.
Medicines like SSRIs as Sertraline, Fluoxetine, Paroxetine etc can be used to reduce the anxiety and will also reduce the compulsive behaviour. Please visit a psychiatrist for prescription of these medicines. These medicines will help to achieve impulse control.
Hope this helps you. Thanks. Take care
