Suggest Remedy For Bad Cough, Fatigue And Low Appetite
Hello, For the last 4 days my 16 year old daughter has been feeling really sick. She has hardly been able to get out of bed. She has quite a bad cough, it was in her chest but it doesn t seem to be anymore. She feels like she has no energy as she s eaten next to nothing. She can hardly walk to the bathroom without feeling like she s going to fall over. I ve booked a doctors appointment for this afternoon, any advice would be great. Also what do you think the doctors recommendation will be? Thank you
Is there any fever? Cough and fatigue suggests respiratory infection, and is most commonly viral. But here, since the cough is chesty and bad, and she is very lethargic, this might need antibiotic therapy for which your doctor will guide you. You may be asked for a blood count and chest X-ray depending on the situation. Meanwhile, give her plenty of fluids like ORS or salted rice water. This will correct any dehydration (dizziness while walking suggests dehydration). Also, take bed rest and have a soft diet.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam T. K., Pediatrician
