Suggest Remedy For Bad Odor From Sinus Area Post Recovery From Cold

I am just recovering from a head cold. It started approx last Tuesday / Wednesday. My symptoms were a very runny nose (clear and watery), no chest congestion, repeated sneezing the first few days ( hard sneezes), no fever. I had mild chills down my back, most of which I associate with fighting a cold. I haven't had a cold for several years and did not take any cold medication. Most all symptoms have subsided. I can now breathe through my nose, however today I noticed an unpleasant odor coming from the sinus area. I don't ever recall having this foul smell before. I've tried blowing my nose, but without much resulting content.

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain bad smell from sinus area while recovering from cold seems to be due to mild infection and inflammation in the sinuses leading to foul smell from the sinuses..

I would suggest you to take a short course of antibiotics like Augmentin, anti-inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen, do steam inhalations with few drops of Eucalyptus oil in water to freshen the breath, take oral and nasal decongestants and also do saline nasal irrigations..

In case of no improvement in a week consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and he can also advise investigations like PNS view of the sinuses for relief..
