Suggest Remedy For Blister-like Sores On Tongue And Mouth

Three weeks ago I developed a sinus infection with a dry cough and a lot of drainage in the back of my throat. Went to community care center twice. They prescribed cough syrup with hydrocodine. A week later they prescribed an antibiotic. Around this time I started getting a sore throat. The sore throat became a sore mouth. I developed small blister-like sores with white tips on tongue, roof of mouth and down my throat. Lasted for four days. The lining of my tongue and roof of my mouth literally sheared away. Still very very painful. Sinus symptoms have pretty much gone away as has cough. Still EXTREMELY tired and mouth and throat sore. Any idea what this is? Went to my ear nose throat specialist last Monday. He never looked inside my mouth and instead prescribed an antibiotic compound for sinus rinse. I did not get that filled as the sinus infection was no longer the bigger issue. I have a differential autoimmune disease and past history of life threatening c-diff. I end up in hospital about once a year with some weird thing. I m hoping this is not one of those times.

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

As per your complain it seems that due to post nasal drip there has been infection in the throat leading to sore throat and sore mouth and blisters are due to APTHOUS STOMATITIS..
Sore throat can be bacterial or viral in nature while there can be viral infection with secondary bacterial infection.
You can take Azithromycin 500mg once daily for 5 days, do warm saline gargles, do chlorhexidine gargles, take throat lozenges, chewable vitamin c lozenges should be taken.
Steam inhalations can help..
Use a cool mist humidifier..

For sore mouth so cold water gargles, suck on ice pops, take a multivitamin tablet once a day for 15 days, avoid spicy and hot food to prevent irritation..
Apply a steroid based oral paste to reduce inflammation and a numbing gel like lignocaine gel to reduce pain as it will numb the are on which it is applied..

Hope this helps..

Regards..
