Suggest Remedy For Breathing Difficulty After Being Hit On Ribs
Hi Doctor, I got hit on my left ribs by a Leather Cricket ball while playing cricket on a bowling machine. The speed was 75 miles/hr. Due to this injury i am unable to breathe properly and also i fainted due to low blood pressure. I got my xrays done, there are no signs of bone fracture, however it seems internal muscle injury. Please advise further course of action.
The trauma you got from being hit by cricket ball has caused injury including of the internal muscles.
It is good that X-ray did not show any sign for bone fracture; however, during the hit, the ball might have injured the external and internal muscles including putting pressure on your lungs and pleura.
This is a temporary situation and will improve within a few days. I advise to: - take OTC pain killers - try to eat often and small portions - avoid laying on the left side where you were hit
If the breathing won't improve or will get worse in a few days, should go to ER and consult pulmonologist as soon as possible for further evaluations and specific treatment.
Wish fast recovery! Dr.Albana
