Suggest Remedy For Bronchitis And Pain Under Rib Cage

My 85 year old mother was released from hospital yesterday after 4 days of treatment for acute bronchitis. Continuing breathing treatments at home 4 times a day. Today she is experiencing pain under right rib age. Is there cause for concern? Follow up with dr scheduled for this coming Wednesday.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
If she is suffering from acute bronchitis then she would require antibiotics (quinolones or macrolides or cephalosporins or amoxicillin with clavulanic acid) and bronchodilators like beta agonists(salbutamol or terbutaline),anticholinergics like ipratropium bromide or aminophylline with nebulization and steam inhalation.
This all above might have to be given for at least 7 to 10 days to resolve the symptoms.
Consult your pulmonologist for further advise.
