Suggest Remedy For Bruise On Cheek With Uniformly Dilating Pupils In A Toddler Post A Fall
My five year old was running to hop in bed and tripped and hit his cheek really hard on the bottom of bed frame. He already has a small bruise showing. He said his cheek feels better when he moves his mouth and says that his neck doesn t hurt. It was an awfully loud crash. His pupils seem to be dilating uniformly. Besides ice on and off every ten minutes, what should I do or what for?
Ice application and analgesics like paracetamol taken 2-3 times daily for 2 days is all that needed. Bruise will take 5-7 days to disappear. Just watch for any abnormal drowsiness, severe headache or vomiting for next 24 hours. Uniform dilatation of people is normal; it is any asymmetry or loss of reaction that is significant. No need to worry now.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam T. K., Pediatrician
