Hello,

Since your shin is giving you discomfort since 5 weeks and now also it is swollen, tender and bruised. You are suggested to get it clinically examined by a GP. You can have a fracture, internal injury, ligament / tendon tear, etc. Neglect will lead to complications. Get X-ray, CT, MRI and other routine blood tests and investigations done. You will be accordingly treated.

In the meantime, take NSAIDS, Combiflam / Naproxen, one SOS when needed to ease pain and discomfort. Take medicines after food to avoid acidity. You can apply ointment thrombophob, on the areas affected to release any blood clot causing purple bruise. Give rest to your legs, do not strain it unnecessarily. Get it treated at the earliest.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
