Suggest Remedy For Bruising And Lump On The Leg

I am using a knee walker because of a broken foot, on this same side right above my knee on the back side of my leg, i have a half an egg sized lump that shows a little bruising and is very sore. Do you think it is anything to worry about? Thanks Gary

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

* The bruise and sore feeling involving leg when using knee walker indicates possible hematoma formation from pressure event or unnoticed trauma through walker part.

My guidelines at present

- local application of ice over the affected part 3 times a day 5 minutes each time

- analgesic as diclofenac with paracetamol after meals

- sterile dressing with normal saline cleansing and neosporin ointment application

* Consult your doc for prescription of antibiotics to resolve it faster and avoid secondary bacterial infection.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
