Suggest Remedy For Bulging Vein In The Foot

Hi... I m a 39 year old male in general good health. I have been quite sedentary for a while now though so I ve taken up running recently. I ve ran probably three times in the past week and a half or so. My problem is that as I step down with my left foot I see a vein in my lower left side of that leg bulge. It isn t simply bulging veins due to a workout though. This vein literally bulges with each step. If I stand on my other leg with the left one off the ground, then it goes away and I d nearly flush with the skin. When I step back down on it though, it bulges again, moreso if I stand on that leg alone. I ve never experienced anything like this and I m pretty alarmed. I ve halted the running until I learn more.

Hello,

You are suffering from bulging veins in your foot. Bulging veins can be a sign of a more serious problem. Your symptoms may be indicative of varicose veins, venous insufficiency, thrombophlebitis, ulcers near the veins, old age, obesity, sedentary lifestyle, etc. To help improve the bulging veins you should eat healthy home made food, lose weight if obese, exercise regularly, avoiding standing or sitting for long periods.

Control your blood glucose level at all cost. Keep your blood pressure under control. Stay away from addictions if any. Get clinically examined by a GP, get all required blood tests, urinalysis and imaging tests done. You will be treated accordingly. Wearing compression stockings may help. You will be treated with laser surgery, vein stripping, sclerotherapy, phlebectomy, endoscopic vein surgery, whatever suits you best will be recommended to you.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
