Suggest Remedy For Bumps In The Labia

recently I ve been getting pimple like bumps in out labia region, most often they pop on their own because of friction from clothing or washing, but some times they are rather painful when they become white and just touching them makes them pop. Is this normal and what can I do to keep from having these?

Hello,

You are getting pimple like bumps in your labia. They are painful and touching them causes them to pop. You are suggested to take care of your hygiene, take bath regularly and use antibacterial soap to clean yourself. Do not touch or scratch. Do not douche, do not use harsh chemical based body products. Wear loose fitting soft cotton clothes.

Tight fitting cotton clothes may cause you to feel uncomfortable and friction between the clothes and bumps may cause pain and spread of the infection. Be careful while shaving your pubic hairs. Waxing, or plucking pubic hairs increases your risk for an ingrown pubic hair that causes small, round, sometimes painful or itchy bump to form.

Do not share your toiletries with anyone. You can take non - sedating antihistamines for relief. You can apply ointment cortisone on the affected area for relieve. Itchy vaginal bumps are symptoms which are similar to those of STIs (sexually transmitted infections). Get STD test done. If report comes positive, you will be treated with antibiotics and antivirals.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
