Suggest Remedy For Burning Sensation And Itching In Vagina After Intercourse
Hi I am 51 and not completely full menopause.my question is for the first time sex was more painful than its ever been even though I was lubricated entry was almost unbearable it burned and felt like I was dry.anyway afterwards but not right away I started experiencing burning and itching upon self examination I discovered a tear right inside the opening of my vagina I have been treating it by washing with Betadine and Vagisil.. Will this work or should I see a doctor
Pain and vaginal tear following intercourse during perimenopausal age is due to vaginal dryness.
Since you are also complaining of associated itching, possible vaginal infections also need to be ruled out with a vaginal swab and culture. So it is best to follow up with your obgyn.
Meanwhile, keep the genital area clean. Wash with gentle soap and water. Avoid douching.
Vagisil and Betadine can be continued. Using lubricants during intercourse. Vaginal estrogen creams can also be considered if vaginal dryness is bothersome.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
