Burning sensations are definitely a symptom of some sort of nerve irritation. It can definitely come from any back problems which can pinch a nerve and cause symptoms further down in your foot. It can also be nerve irritation in the foot itself. You can try purchasing orthotics or shoe inserts from the store to support your foot better which might help take pressure off of a potentially irritated nerve in the foot. If the problem is truly from your back then the treatment is more for the symptoms. Buying different pain creams can help. There is 1 called capsaicin that is made from pepper extract which helps to distract the nerves. Also ben gay or icy hot work similar. If it truly is from a back issue then you must seek a back specialist to see if there is any treatment they can do to relieve the pressure from the pinched nerve. Hope this helps!
