Suggest Remedy For Chest Pain After Eating Food

I have just experienced, approx 30 mins after dinner, chest pain starting from left side spreading across to the right and up my neck. It lasted for several minutes. I did not have shortness of breath of any other pains. I am 55yr , female, heart disease in the family and do have high familial cholesterol. Is this indigestion or something more significant.? symptoms have subsided now many thanks

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is likely indigestion.

The most common concern with chest pain is the heart. If it was a heart attack, the pain would likely still be present and there would be additional symptoms (palpitations, shortness of breath)

If it recurs then you can see your doctor for assessment.

You may also want to review the meal to note which part likely provoked the reaction.

I hope this helps
