Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was chewing some gum this morning and had to blow my nose. Afterwards, I noticed that the gum was not in my mouth! I thought that it might have fallen out. Now, after lunch, I can feel something back in my throat, where there is post-nasal drip sometimes. Is this the piece of gum? How do I get rid of it? My email address is YYYY@YYYY .
hello there, The chewing gum most probably is stuck in your food pipe. Having something fibrous like toasted multigrain or wholewheat bread will help the chewing gum stick onto it and then it will be passed out in your poop. Also have lots of water to get rid of the stuck sensation in your throat. Do not worry the chewing gum will not clog up your intestines or anything and will pass out without affecting you in any way.
Hope this helps, Dr Arun A
