Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had extreme dry mouth in the last week or two. At night I believe it could be sleeping with mouth ooen or snoring , but it continues during the day. I have been drinking large amounts of Smart Water with electrolites , Vitiam zero water and regular water , but won't go away.
There can be a number of cause for dry mouth (xerostomia),But most probable cause of dry mouth is side effect of certain medication .It could also be due to some underlying disease like diabetes and infection or nerve damage .
So its very important to know complete history to find out the exact cause .Consult your doctor ,so that he/she can take complete history and check other symptoms to find what exactly causing dry mouth .
For now you can use saliva substitute which is easily available as over the counter medicine ,try to breath from nose instead of mouth and chew sugar free gum. you can also use room vaporizer .
For snoring problem you can use device called CPAP after recommended by doctor. If you are taking any medication consult your doctor for substitution .
Hope your concern has been resolved. Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
