Acne treatment involves: (1) treating the bacterial associated with acne (2) treating the inflammation of the skin , excess sebum and blocked glands that can occur
Treatment can be topical or oral.
There are different topical options eg topical antibiotics, benzoyl peroxide, topical retinoids There are also combinations.
The benzoyl peroxide may be over the counter as a wash or cleanser but the others would require prescription.
I hope this helps
