Hello,
To get rid of
chronic insomnia it is important to get treated the factors that may be causing it. Get clinically examined by a GP, get required blood tests and investigations done to detect underlying medical conditions like anxiety, stress,
fibromyalgia,
hyperthyroidism, sleep apnea, etc. Stay away from medicines like diuretics, nicotine, laxatives, cold and allergy medications. etc., as they will trigger your symptoms.
Switch to healthy lifestyle, avoid daytime napping, avoid sedentary life or physical inactivity. Do regular exercises and walking, lose weight, it will be helpful for good sleep.
Physical therapy like CBT, relaxing techniques,
stress management etc., will help effectively. Make the bedroom comfortable so that you will get 8 hours of quality sleep.
I advise you to take a home nurse's help or a caregiver's assistance to get rid of anxiety / tension. A CPAP machine can help you breath while you sleep to manage sleep apnea better. Your treating doctor will treat insomnia with medication.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
