Suggest Remedy For Chronic Pain In The Back Of Neck

I have chronic pain in the back of my neck, temporarily helped with Chiro, massage or acupuncture but often something I just live with. Ibuprofen helps, but when the pain/tightness is at its worst, nothing helps. It s often accompanied by a burning sensation in the same region. I stretch my neck often, this reduces headaches caused by the problem but my neck is still in discomfort or pain 70% of the time. Moving my head around the range of motion, it feels crunchy. It also kinks really easily. Release is hard to find and really short-lived... Not sure if related but I have had 5 kidney stones, and another one coming on recently. My pain tolerance has become higher as a result, but when I can t get comfortable for days it is exasperating. Could this be a medical condition or do I just need to live with physio and constant anti-inflammatory meds?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Thanks for your query. From what you have detailed, it seems that you have never had a medical doctor consultation for your chronic neck pain. It does not seem to be related to your kidney stones. If I was your doctor I would have definitely ordered an Xray of your Cervical Spine and head lateral view. If Xray is inconclusive i would have also ordered for an MRI. The main suspect is cervical spondylosis. It could also be other conditions like a retropharyngeal abscess or spondylolisthesis. So I really advice you to consult a doctor and do the necessary investigations and scans as soon as possible. Take care and Good day to you.
