Suggest Remedy For Cough & Chest Congestion

Cough, chest and sinus congestion, no fever, no body aches but sore throat going on two weeks. Took Pseudonephrine 12 hour for awhile and swithced to guifenecen DM. No real progress and I don t want to wait to long and get sicker. I don t want an antibiotic unless I need one. Thick yellow brown expectorant at time but chest congestion not loosening up.

Thanks for your question on HCM.
In my opinion you are having respiratory tract infection involving sinuses, throat and lungs.
Thick yellow brown phlegm suggest infection only. So better to start antibiotic for quick relief.
Try to follow these for quick symptomatic relief.
1. Avoid oily and spicy food.
2. Warm water gargles 5-6 times a day.
3. Fluoroquinolone group of antibiotic.
4. Antihistamines drug
5. Anti inflammatory drug.
6. Mucolytic and expectorant syrup.
If not improve in 5 days better to get done chest x ray to rule out pneumonia.
