Suggest Remedy For Cramps And Weird Vaginal Discharge

Hello, I am a 19 year old female and I go to UTC (University of Tennessee at Chattanooga). I got a yearly check up in April 2015 on campus because I had a weird discharge and they told me I was negative in all the testing and my cervix was beautiful. Just to make sure, I got another check up once I got home because I was still having discharge but now mini cramps every now and then . I was tested negative on HIV and Gonorrhea but positive on Chlamydia. I was proscribed 1 dose of antibiotics the first week of June and took it a day after I was told the bad news. Its been almost three weeks and I still have the same discharge but not the mini cramps. My question is, how long should I notice changes as in being cured or should I go and get tested again to see if its a yeast infection or something?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Thank you for asking. I had gone through your query and understand your.

Short answer: You need a re-test.

Detailed answer:

An infection caused by Chlamydia usually takes 1 to 2 weeks to resolve after taking antibiotics. You need to take antibiotics for prescribed duration.

As your symptoms are not reduced, I suggest you the following,
01) A re-test is needed to confirm whether the infection has resolved completely or not. If test comes positive, you may need to take another course of antibiotics.

02) If you are sexually active, ask your partner to get treated for the same.

Chlamydia can cured completely with antibiotics. You need not to worry.

Hope this helps.

You can contact me at any time for any further information.
