Suggest Remedy For Diaper Rash In Infants

My 15m old son has frequent yellow pastey/softy stool and a bad diaper rash on his bum. No fever, behavior changes other than decreased appetite. The diaper rash is really bad with red bumps and broken skin. He s not interested in water or fruit but he will nurse and have a bottle of cows milk.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

You may want to consider the following: (1) barrier protection of the skin, this is to protect the skin from urine and stool that would cause pain and also worsen the rash

This would be a zinc based cream, would be over the counter

(2)There may be a fungal or bacterial infection or both present. He would need a cream to treat any infection that is present.
This may include an anti fungal (eg ketoconazole, miconazole, econazole) and an antibacterial (bactroban, neosporin, fucidin).

I hope this helps
