Suggest Remedy For Discomfort In The Upper Arm Post Endoscopic Cubital Tunnel Release Surgery

Hello. I had endoscopic cubital/ carpal tunnel surgery on my right 3-18-15, my symptoms: I feel like my circulation is being cut off to my hand and hand feels tight, I am now having discomfort in my upper arm and shoulder blade, recent EMG shows I still have carpal tunnel. I m wearing a splint at night, nothing taken by mouth seems to help such as Ibuprofen. If I lay on my back with my arms out to my side bent slightly the feeling seems to ease up but never completely goes away, ice will ease symptoms some. I m having difficulty doing my job, its very upsetting. Could you give me some suggestions? Thank you for your time. Lynn

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my clinical experience, the discomfort in the upper arm post endoscopic cubital tunnel release surgery is in relation with compression of underlying neuronal and vascular structures at splint level most likely.

In my clinic, I thoroughly evaluate the patient for peripheral circulation with pulsations, sensory motor pathways and reflexes as biceps and triceps. The MRI may be need of future time course after the conservative therapy has not provided adequate and satisfactory results.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
