Suggest Remedy For Dizziness After Getting Water In Ear

About 2 or 3 weeks ago, my sister got water in her ear. Her husband added alcohol to her ear to help evaporate the water. She started getting a little dizzy when she lays down about that same time. She only gets dizzy when she lays down and when she gets back up out of bed. She does have allergies and thought that might be what is causing her to get dizzy. She is 60 and in pretty good overall health. She does take medication daily - armor thyroid and hormone therapy meds (estrogen and progesterone). Any suggestions?

Hi,

If your sister is still experiencing dizziness after getting water in her ear, the alcohol used to help dry out the ear may have irritated the inner ear or the ear canal, leading to dizziness. It is also possible that the dizziness is related to her allergies or other health conditions.

One simple remedy that may help is to try a warm compress on the affected ear. This can help to loosen any trapped water or wax and promote drainage. She can also try gently tilting her head to the side of the affected ear and pulling on the earlobe to help the water drain out.

If the dizziness persists, she should consult her doctor for further evaluation. Her doctor may recommend a referral to an ENT (ear, nose, and throat) specialist for further examination and treatment. It is important to rule out any underlying conditions that may be causing the dizziness.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
